Modes of Fixing and Operation of Sliding Curtains

Tips for fixing

Whoever wants to replace his old curtains by modern panel curtains may possibly be lucky to hang the pulley tunnel for the panel curtain directly into the old curtain rail. Many pulley tunnels can be fixed to or fit with their roles into the old rail. Of course, a rail system which is really adapted to the sliding technology of sliding curtains is much more suitable. Furthermore, it is often necessary to have more than 2 inner rails in order to create a variable window decoration.

The direct fixing to the ceiling is the most elegant version for panel curtain rail systems. Here the rails are drilled through on certain points and can there be screwed tightly to the ceiling. The result is a rail which is hardly visible and thus has no influence on the optical effect of the window decoration. This variation is recommendable for the application of panel curtains as room dividers since the rail fixed flat to the ceiling is less obvious when the panel curtain or room divider is opened. For very high rooms where a fixing to the ceiling is impossible the rail may as well be fixed to the wall. For this case special brackets or girders are available on which the rail can be fixed. For covering very wide window fronts the rails can be linked seamlessly. Thereby, the welts are required to meet very exactly in order to not hinder the slide of the pulley tunnel.

Variations in operation

Panel curtains can be moved manually, via rod or pull cord. The frequent manual operation may leave traces on sensitive, thin or bright fabrics which is why it is recommended to move the panel curtain on the pulley tunnel by means of a bar. However, small aids such as magnets mounted to the handles can prevent traces of use at manual use and be relatively decorative at the same time.

Since not all curtain fabrics are equipped with washable coatings we recommend a bar or pull cord for a frequent operation. Since it appears hardly decorative if every single pulley tunnel is equipped with a bar, the pulley tunnels can be linked by carriers. These are also required for pull cord operation.
